Olivia Byrne

Graphic designer

I'm a designer inspired by the mesmerizing dance of colors. We live in a colorful world and I find it important to continue that within my designs.  To be a designer is to be a storyteller. Beyond aesthetics, my design philosophy is a narrative, a journey of telling compelling stories, evoking emotions, and forging meaningful connections with people. As an individual I have never been afraid of not fitting in and because of this, I strive for my work to push the boundaries of design.

The creation of Typolious marked an exciting venture into the world of design, as we set out to showcase renowned designers and spotlight the trendiest fonts in contemporary design. My specific focus was on featuring the distinctive fonts employed by the esteemed director Wes Anderson. Designing this magazine became an opportunity to push the boundaries of conventional design practices.

Bronx zoo

For this project I decided to spotlight the opening day of the Butterfly Garden at the Bronx Zoo. For the mailer, I opted for a tri-fold brochure format, carefully featuring select images of the exquisite butterflies and other delightful creatures within the garden.

Thrive, Northampton Community College’s mental health program, asked us to create  a poster design that would capture the essence of the program. My central theme of “Be Kind To Your Mind” provided the guiding star for my design journey. In visualizing the core message, I created a Beautiful Bouquet of flowers on a Brain as the focal point of the poster, an artistic representation intended to convey the inherent beauty within the mind. This metaphorical exploration aimed not only to capture attention visually, but also to instill a deeper appreciation for the complexity and richness within our mental landscapes. The creation of the poster for Thrive is a testament to my commitment to purposeful design.

My poster went on to be one of the winning posters for the THRIVE poster competition.
